Renewable Energy Penetration Goal: Saint Lucia aims to have 50% of its electricity mix come from renewable energy sources, including solar, by 2030. This shift is crucial for reducing the country’s dependency on imported petroleum and enhancing the resilience of its energy supply ..
Typical system prices and monthly energy production for 1 kWp, in Saint Lucia, range from US$3000 to US$4500 and around 125kWh. Prices for solar PV systems are constantly dropping. Note: PV system sizes are given in kWp, i.e. kilowatt peak..
In my opinion, solar power in Saint Lucia remains in the hands of those who can make a large investment in the long term. For those who at some points cannot even afford the cost of electricity services, investing a large sum into solar panels is not a possibility, even though in the long term it will be consistently cheaper than traditional . .
solar farm. The 14,900 photovoltaic panels on the now-complete energy production facility generate enough electricity for nearly 3,500 homes while offsetting over 3,800 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually, already saving $16 million for consumers. The solar farm is historic for St. Lucia as the first utility-scale.
With economies of scale, and the potential for new domestic solar manufacturing facilities, the solar panels themselves will become cheaper and easier to ship -- addressing some of the . [pdf]
