State-owned power generator NTPC is seeking global bids on behalf of Unión Eléctrica de Cuba (UNE) for 1,150 MW of grid-connected solar PV and 150 MW/150 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Cuba..
Battery energy storage systems (BESS) can help address the challenge of intermittent renewable energy. Large scale deployment of this technology is hampered by perceived financial risks and lack of secured financial models. Innovative financial models can encourage both project developers and users, resulting in widespread adoption of BESS..
Building a Cleaner, More Resilient Energy System in Cuba recommends numerous ways by which domestic policy in Cuba can prioritize working towards a more sustainable, resilient grid — especially by investing in the energy transition — and ways in which international cooperation can support these goals..
Unlike wind and solar projects, battery projects are not generating electricity. Rather, they provide a service and act as arbitrage assets. With a battery storage asset, electricity is bought and sold at different times of day to make money by storing electricity when prices are low and discharging it when prices are high. [pdf]

Germany is a world leader in the use of solar energy, and the government offers a number of subsidies and financial incentives to help homeowners and businesses install solar panels. These subsidies can help to offset the cost of installing solar panels, making them more affordable and accessible..
It is a reduction of loan that has to be repaid and is granted after the completion of work and cover up to 50 % of the loan: For solar thermal installations, the repayment bonus is up to 40 %. For installations, producing heat from biomass, the repayment bonus can be up to € 100.000, from CHP EUR 40 per kW nominal heat capacity..
The German government wants to encourage people who don’t need solar panels for personal use to install them on their roofs. They also want these people to connect the electricity produced by the panels to the grid. 4. Financial assistance: The German government offers low-interest loans and financial help for energy storage projects..
One of the most significant innovations in Germany’s solar energy policies is the implementation of a 0% value-added tax rate for the supply and installation of solar panels, which went into effect on January 1, 2023. This regulation applies to a wide range of systems, including single-family residential and commercial photovoltaic (PV . [pdf]
