Figure 1: Microgrid Model in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The model of the system is composed of the following parts: • Distributed Generation, this part of the system is composed only of Photovoltaic (PV) farms. Solar generation is considered the most suitable and feasible renewable energy source for Sudan due to the high solar exposure in Sudan..
Only 29% of Madagascar’s population and 39% of Mali’s have access to electricity. South Sudan, at 8%, holds the dubious distinction of being the least electrified country in the world. In some African nations, such as the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), electricity access has been stunted by decades of conflict and political instability..
The general structure of the proposed hybrid energy system consists of a solar PV array, wind turbine, two diesel generators, battery storage system, and power converter. Fig. 5 show the overall schematic of the proposed HRES. Following the proposed framework discussed above, these components were selected as preliminary feasible technologies . .

Floating solar or floating photovoltaics (FPV), sometimes called floatovoltaics, are mounted on a structure that floats. The structures that hold the solar panels usually consist of plastic buoys and cables. They are then placed on a body of water. Typically, these bodies of water are reservoirs, quarry lakes, irrigation canals or remediation and tailing ponds. Key points:Wannon Water plans to float 1,200 solar panels on a water catchment in WarrnamboolThe 500-kilowatt floating array will be the biggest of its type in AustraliaIt is expected to reduce emissions by more than 600 tonnes per year.

The global adoption of solar power is accelerating, with Australia leading in per capita solar power generation. However, ground photovoltaic (GPV) systems face limitations due to low surface power density and land use constraints..
Floating photovoltaics means floating solar plants on lakes and other bodies of water. The technology enables energy companies to expand solar power without taking up more land. In 2021, the installed capacity worldwide was significantly above two gigawatts and counting, according to the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE). [pdf]
