Wang et al. (2020) developed a liquid nitrogen energy storage structure using an air separation unit, nitrogen liquefaction cycle, and gas power generation plant. The results illustrated that the round trip and exergy efficiencies of the multifunctional LAES structure were 38.5% and 59.1%, respectively..
To reconcile the objectives of CCS and LNG cold power generation, this study introduces a novel NGCC process that integrates liquid nitrogen energy storage (NGCC-LNES) to maintain thermal equilibrium between the intermittent energy release process and continuous liquefaction process through cold storage..
Ebrahimi et al. [47] investigated an innovative liquid nitrogen energy storage system using air separation, liquefaction hydrogen, and Kalina power system based on pinch and exergy. .
It is possible to use nitrogen as energy accumulator, if air ingredients are collected from the air separation unit (ASU) in liquid form. The principle of nitrogen based energy storage system operation was shown on figure 1. When the demand for electricity is low, the energy can be used for air separation and Air Separation Unit Liquid . [pdf]

The different kinds of thermal energy storage can be divided into three separate categories: sensible heat, latent heat, and thermo-chemical heat storage. Each of these has different advantages and disadvantages that determine their applications. storage (SHS) is the most straightforward method. It simply means the temperature of some medium is either increased or decreased. This type of storage is the most commerciall. [pdf]
