The energy sector in is mainly oriented towards the consumption of electricity based on fossil fuels; renewable energies are currently underdeveloped for the moment, and there is no export of fossil fuels. Electricity in Mayotte in 2015 was 95% thermal sources and 5% renewable energy. The multi-year energy program sets a target of 30% renewable energi. [pdf]

The new policy put forward a wide range of energy prices where using electricity during peak hours (the morning and afternoon) costs up to four times more than off-peak. Since peak hours tend to coincide with the sunniest time of day, the policy might encourage greater use of rooftop solar power systems..
As of March 2024, Macau has 9 solar PV systems connected to the network, with a total installed capacity of 3,223 kWp, producing over four million kWh of green energy. It is anticipated that larger photovoltaic systems will be developed in the future to inject more green energy into Macau..
Maximise annual solar PV output in Macao, Macao, by tilting solar panels 20degrees South. Macao, located in the Tropics, is a decent place to generate energy using solar panels all year round. ..
Macau has chosen roof-top solar technology as the most effective way to utilize solar energy, as a 1-m 2 solar panel can generate about 167 kWh of electricity annually. It is hoped that this study can provide useful information to help Macau, as well as other cities, to become a sustainable energy-efficient city. [pdf]

In Guyana, solar energy is used for several purposes, including drying agricultural produce, irrigation, ICT, and to improve electricity access in rural areas. Under the Hinterland Electrification Programme, in excess of 19,000 solar PV systems had been installed in nearly 200 communities by 2018..
According to the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), Guyana receives an average of 1,800 kWh/kWp/yr. Also, the amount of electricity you can get from every kilowatt (kW) of installed solar power changes with the seasons: you’d get about 2 3. 5.23 kWh/m2/day in Summer,.
The project falls under the Guyana Utility-Scale Photovoltaic Programme (GUYSOL), which is being implemented by the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) to diversify its energy source with solar farms. The newly signed contracts are set to bolster sustainable energy infrastructure in Regions Two, Five, and Six, marking a pivotal step in the nation’s . .
Through the use of US$83.3 million accumulated from Norway to keep Guyana’s rainforests intact, the new solar farms promise to add much-needed solar power, an environmentally-friendly source of power, to Guyana’s grid. [pdf]

Committed to transforming the electricity landscape and increasing the adoption of renewable energy in Syria, the government is aiming to have 10% of electricity generated from solar power by 2030. The Syrian Ministry of Electricity is currently managing the construction of a 100kW solar power plant in the town of Sargaya, which is scheduled to . .
Cut off from the power grid and with fuel costs soaring, Syrians in a poor, embattled enclave have turned en masse to solar panels to charge their phones and light their homes and tents..
The use of solar energy spreads from northwestern Syria, which started relying on solar power around 2016, passing through areas in the north-east, ending with the areas under the control of the Syrian regime, which directed a clear trend to generate electricity through them, not only in large industrial facilities but even in homes..
Expanding solar access for communities in Syria. Solar energy is vital in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which helps mitigate climate change. When communities have access to this clean energy, as they now do in Khirais, it increases their climate resilience, enabling them to better prepare for, recover from, and adapt to climate change.
